Lemaire

Lemaire was quite an elegant dining experience. It’s located inside the Jefferson Hotel. The Lemaire dining area overlooks a city street where you can watch passers by.

Everything I ate and drank tasted superb and was cooked to my liking. The service was the best I’ve had. A guy comes by in between courses to wipe the crumbs off the table. They must be heavily staffed because we had a different server for every course.

We sat at a table for two. The table was extremely long—not very good for holding hands unless you both happen to have abnormally long arms. Since you’re so far apart, you have to talk louder. That leaves you with no privacy because nearby tables are seated so closely.

Then again who needs to talk when the food is so delicious. I was at Lemaire for dinner, but they are known by many for their excellent brunch. Would I go back? I’m going for brunch next weekend.

If you want to be pampered, Lemaire will deliver. With no less than four separate servers attending us during our meal there was no lack of attention paid to the customer. Of course, we were pretty much the only people there, but I have to believe that the same effort is made at busier times as well. The only knock on the service would be against our primary waitress who was a bit moody and made certain parts of the evening uncomfortable.

As far as the food is concerned, everything was excellent. The bread was also plentiful and fresh. I mention that only because it has become a trend forrestaurants to ignore that critical component. I can do without a half dozen bread “options” – just give me one solid variant, thanks. Parking can also be a pain as there really isn’t a specific area to park. All things considered, Lemaire is a fine establishment. I’m looking forward to our next visit.
